The Stream Option | Week 12

The Stream Option is a weekly article where The Undroppables explore the best options at Quarterback, Defense, and Tight End that should be available in most leagues.
*Note: ESPN rostership rates were gathered on 11/24/2020 and are subject to change.

    Quarterbacks

Derek Carr – LAR @ ATL

Atlanta has been the worst passing defense in the NFL practically all season, as they are allowing the most fantasy points to both quarterbacks and tight ends. Meanwhile, Carr has been largely consistent this season with only one game with less than 10 points in Week 10, and Carr is coming off a monster performance against the Chiefs which almost led to a win. Carr is currently the QB17 and only rostered in 48.7% of ESPN leagues.

Philip Rivers – IND vs TEN

Rivers has suffered from a bit of a boom or bust season in fantasy this year but has finished with more than 16 points in 3 of his last 4 games as the Colts ground game has failed to execute as promised. Of course, one of these 4 games was against the Titans in Week 10 where Rivers scored 16.32 fantasy points. I expect another similar game in what should hopefully be a more competitive game than Week 10’s Thursday Night showdown. Rivers is only rostered in 13.8% of ESPN leagues.

Other options: Gardner Minshew if healthy vs CLE (12.1% rostered)

    Tight Ends

Robert Tonyan – GB vs CHI

Tonyan is currently the TE6 in fantasy despite failing to perform consistently. In Week 12, the Pack will face a Bears defense that currently allows the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Tonyan’s fantasy performance seems largely TD dependent, but this matchup should provide him the opportunity to put one past the goal-line for six points. Tonyan is currently rostered in 41% of ESPN leagues.

Logan Thomas – WAS @ DAL

Logan Thomas has developed quite the rapport with new Washington starting Quarterback Alex Smith, as he has a combined 16 targets over the three games which Smith has started. Thomas has failed to turn these targets into any standout fantasy performances, but a matchup against the poor passing defense of the Cowboys could give Thomas an opportunity to succeed in fantasy. Make sure to add Thomas, who is only rostered in 43.2% of ESPN leagues, soon as this battle for the NFC East will be played at 4:30 pm EST on Thanksgiving day.

    Defenses

New Orleans Saints D/ST – NO @ DEN

The Saints have the 5th best defense in fantasy at this point in the season but are currently only rostered in 69.4% of ESPN leagues. Along with their strong performances in the past, they will also benefit from a plus defensive matchup against the Drew Lock-led Broncos who have failed to score more than 20 points in each of their past two games. Expect another strong game from the Saints defense this week.

Green Bay Packers D/ST – GB vs CHI

With Mitch Trubisky already out due to a shoulder injury, Nick Foles also went down in the Bear’s Week 10 matchup. While coming off their bye this week, the status of both quarterbacks is still in question for a team that has largely struggled on the offensive side of the ball. Along with the rough QB situation in Chicago, the Bears’ offensive line has struggled all season and Za’Darius and Preston Smith will likely give the Packers a few sacks off the edge in this one. The Packers Defense is only rostered in 41.7% of ESPN leagues.

Other options: Seattle D/ST @ PHI (22.1% rostered)
